Reconstitution guide
A standard laboratory protocol for reconstituting lyophilised peptides with bacteriostatic water for in-vitro research use.
Required equipment
- Bacteriostatic water (sterile, 10mL vial) — available from BSR
- Sterile transfer syringe or pipette — available from your laboratory supplier
- Surface disinfectant (70% IPA or equivalent) — available from your laboratory supplier
- Sterile storage vials — available from BSR
- Lyophilised peptide vial
Step-by-step protocol
- Disinfect the rubber stopper of both vials with a surface disinfectant and allow to dry fully.
- Using a sterile transfer syringe or pipette, draw the required volume of bacteriostatic water.
- Introduce the diluent into the peptide vial at a 45-degree angle, directing the stream onto the glass wall rather than directly onto the lyophilised cake.
- Allow to dissolve at room temperature — do not agitate or shake. Gently swirl if required.
- Once the solution is clear, transfer to labelled sterile storage vials. Store at 2–8°C and use within 28 days.
Research use only
This protocol is for in-vitro and preclinical laboratory research only. BSR compounds are not approved for and must not be used for human or veterinary administration.
Use the reconstitution calculator to determine correct diluent volumes for your target working concentration.
